What is the Brunswick Tenants and Residents Association?

The group is made up of local people who come together to address issues within their local area and act as a voice for their local community. The committee of BTARA is open to all local people living in the Brunswick area.

Wednesday Community Meeting

We meet every first Wednesday of the month at 7pm

at Brunswick Village Community Room, Brunswick Street, Manchester.

The Group meets to address one specific issue or address a wider spectrum of matters depending on the current local issues. The Brunswick Tenants and Residents Association represents the Brunswick area which is managed by S4B. A report from each meeting can be found at the below button.

Community Room Booking

Brunswick Village Community Room is suitable for community workshops, meetings, and events.
Address:  Brunswick Village, 50 Brunswick St, Manchester M13 9PE

The venue is available for rental from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a maximum capacity of 50 people. Onsite facilities include tables, chairs, a tea station, restrooms, and a TV equipped for computer connectivity. Room Hire Rates:

  • £35 per hour for businesses.

  • £60 for Brunswick residents for a 3-hour booking.

  • £95 for a full-day hire from 9 am to pm on weekdays by Brunswick residents.

  • No charge for Brunswick community groups, provided the event directly benefits Brunswick residents. This clause is not applicable to events where the primary participants are not Brunswick residents. We will require relevant proof, promotional materials, and all promotional flyers and posters. We will promote and advertise within the Brunswick community. (According to the registered address of the organisation or the certificate of incorporation)


Important Conditions for Community Events:

  • Public Interest Compliance: For community events booked under these terms, you must comply with the Public Interest, Safety, and Security Ordinance.

  • Participant Numbers: You must ensure that the event will have between 30 and 50 participants.

  • Resident Access: Brunswick residents must be allowed to participate free of charge. (You need to make sure must benefit to Brunswick residents)

  • Fee Waivers: Fee waivers are at the discretion of BTARA and Manchester City Council. Partial fee reductions may apply if the event is not solely organised for Brunswick residents.


User Compliance Requirements:

1. Pre- and Post-Event Condition: Please take photos of the room before use and ensure it is restored to its original condition after the event.

2. Waste Management: Users must bring their own rubbish bags and remove all waste from the premises after the event.

3. Cleanliness: The venue must be left clean at the end of the event. Failure to do so may result in a charge for cleaning services.

4. Fire Safety: Open flames are strictly prohibited on the premises.

5. Prohibited Items: Hazardous materials and offensive weapons are forbidden.

6. Smoking and Alcohol: Smoking and the consumption of alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the premises.

7. Prohibited Activities: Ball games and sports activities are not allowed within the venue.

8. Insurance and Safety Documentation: If booking the venue as a group for a community event, you must provide Public Liability Insurance, Safeguarding documentation, and a risk assessment. If the event involves children or seniors, the responsible party must also provide an Enhanced DBS check and ensure that at least one staff member or volunteer with a valid First Aid Certificate is present.

9. Food and Drink: To avoid liability issues related to food allergies among participants, the community group organising the event is fully responsible for all food and beverages. Participants are not allowed to bring external food or drinks. *Tap water will be provided on-site.

Lunar New Year Fair and Celebration 2024

On Saturday, 10th February the community will be coming together to celebrate the Lunar New Year. The event will be held at Brunswick Church Brunswick Street, M13 9SX during the afternoon.

Brunswick Jingle Christmas Party 2023

On Saturday 16th December, Brunswick Jingle came to Brunswick Village. Everyone came together for an afternoon of festive fun and games.  

Mid-Autumn Festival and Night Fair 2023

Members of the Brunswick community attended craft classes prior to the event to make their own lanterns which were displayed around Gartside Gardens Park and as night fell, the lanterns were lit to be seen in all their glory. 

Committee Members

The structure of BTARA includes a chair, secretary, treasurer and committee members. These positions are decided by way of nominations at the annual meeting.
